Can you set windows desktop to stop the extended desktop when you turn off the second monitor?

I have my pc set up with two monitors and windows desktop is extended onto the second. If I turn off the second monitor the mouse will still leave the screen of monitor 1 even though I can't see it on monitor 2. Is it possible for windows to sense when the second monitor is turned off so it can disable the extended desktop? Forgot to add... I'm looking for a short way of doing it. Going desktop > properties > display > disable second monitor is annoying!

  1. it cant do it automatically - but you can setup profiles within the software settings so you click on one to extend the screen and another so it disables the extending
  2. You would need to disable the 2nd monitor every time. I don't believe there is a way for the computer to Sense if the power is off and disable it. I have the same issue at home, but my 2nd monitor is a tv and im usually watching something while im on the computer instead of using it as a monitor. You just have to be aware of where your mouse is and not move it off the screen and if it does just move it back to left other side.
  3. Sure....when you shut down the 2nd monitor, right-click anywhere on your desktop, click 'properties' which will bring up your display settings. Click 'settings' then click the monitor you want on. Hope this helps.
