How can i access all of the applications and files on my windows desktop from my MacBook pro remotely?

What i mean is i need the applications and files on my pc (windows vista) at home. I need to access them anywhere in the world through my macbook pro. I am running windows vista home premium Remote desktop does not work with home premium A software I could buy would also be a nice reccomendation
